If making art is like breathing, teaching art is like eating.
By teaching art, especially to children, artists can share the essentials of their art form and reconnect with their own creative center – nourishing the impulse that inspired them to begin making art in the first place.
Voice of the City’s teaching artists are trained in basic educational theory and practice; curriculum development and lesson planning; and establishing a familiar classroom ritual and environment to minimize discipline issues. All artists are guided and supported throughout their teaching experience with on-going supervisory feedback and peer teacher talk-backs.
