Program Partners
Voice of the City began its programming with the assistance of two neighborhood institutions: Nazareth United Church of Christ (UCC), and the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA).
In Voice of the City's emerging years, program partner, Nazareth UCC
provided space to for Fine Arts for Kids of Logan Square classes and
Vaudeville Underground performances. This partnership was invaluable
to Voice of the City from 1999 to 2006. Since 1999, Voice of the City and LSNA has also partnered to bring Fine Arts for Kids of Logan Square and Family Art Workshops to neighborhood children at LSNA’s Community Learning Centers.
In 2006 and 2007, the Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO) and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Logan Square came to Voice of the City to help build on the vision that the arts can transform the lives of residents, by providing quality arts programs.
Voice of the City has also established program partnerships with the Logan Square Branch of the Chicago Public Library, Haas Park, and Unity Park.
Since 2001 Voice of the City has worked closely with Winifred Haun to produce Circle in the Square: New Works in Dance Theatre. Wini soon became one of Voice of the City's first Associate Artists; her contribution to the growth and maturity of the organization is immeasurable.
Most recently, LSNA connected Voice of the City with the New Communities Program’s Task Force and implementation of the Quality of Life Plan, a Local Initiative Service Corporation (LISC) program. Executive/Artistic Director, Dawn Marie Galtieri, participated in the Task Force process, co-wrote the arts strategies. Voice of the City received a seed grant of $15,000.00 in 2006 and another $25,000.00 in 2008 to lead the implementation of the Logan Square Chamber of Arts.
