Excerpt:
The Willingness to Succeed
I get so sick and tired of being approached with the same question
"Do you have any children yet?"
This bothers me because it is asked so often.
It seems as if I'm in the wrong for not having children at the age of 19.
Society is so messed up that a woman of color is not expected to make it out of high school without a child.
I know personally of some not making it out of elementary school before conceiving.
I refuse to prove the hype and fall under a statistic.
So next time you see me your question should be how many degrees do I have,
because that's the only thing I will be producing in the near future.
